Each of Stoughton's eight voting precincts has been assigned one or two Community Police Officers (CPOs) for that precinct. The CPOs job is to be available to the residents for community meetings and to become directly involved with the day to day issues a particular area of town may have. CPOs have taken speeder complaints and set up "speed watches" with local residents acting as our eyes and ears. We have done speed assessments that either back up the residents claims or show them that the problem is not quite what they think. Department CPOs have been an integral resource in gathering drug intelligence from area neighborhoods and have had hands in many arrests. The job of the CPO does not stop there though, we try to bring issues to some sort of a happy resolution by using all of the options available to us, up to and including criminal charges. So if you have a problem contact your CPO, they're here for you!

What You Can Do

Help Out

Policing society is a difficult task under the best of conditions, but the Stoughton Police take to it with vigor and enthusiasm. The reality remains however, that we simply can not be everywhere at once, but you can. This town has over 30,000 sets of eyes and ears and we need to use them. People have to be willing to fight for what's right and to take charge of their own neighborhoods. When evil rears it's head it should be afraid of what it finds. The Community Policing Unit has the faith in you the townspeople to do the right thing and to be good citizens. We can't do it alone. To report a crime call 781-344-2424. You can also contact one of your precinct representatives at the above number or by emailing the community policing office. To set up a neighborhood watch for your local area, contact Lt. Devine at the community policing office.
